Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Road Accident
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, officials in Lagos announced on Wednesday night. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that resulted in the deaths of two of his team members.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been receiving medical attention while recuperating from non-critical injuries, representatives had said on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two departed friends as they were being readied to be sent home,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the champion was filled with sorrow and overcome with emotion over the tragic loss of his two trusted companions.”
