The Israeli Premier League local clash featuring one local team and their city rivals was called off prior to commencement on the weekend, due to what authorities labeled as "civil unrest and major clashes".

"Many of smoke devices and pyrotechnic devices were set off," law enforcement posted on social media, emphasizing "this is not a football game, it represents chaos and significant aggression".

Twelve people and several officers were injured, police said, while multiple persons were taken into custody and numerous others detained for questioning.

The disturbances happen just a short time after authorities in the Britain stated that followers of the club should not be allowed to attend the European competition match at Aston Villa in Britain next month because of public safety worries.

The local club censured the game abandonment, accusing law enforcement of "preparing for a war, instead of a football match", even during meetings in the lead-up to the highly-anticipated fixture.

"The shocking situations around the arena and due to the ill-considered and unacceptable judgment to cancel the fixture only demonstrate that the law enforcement has seized authority in the game," Hapoel Tel Aviv stated officially.

Maccabi Tel Aviv has declined to speak, except to confirm the game was called off.

The judgment by Birmingham's Safety Advisory Group to ban club followers from the Birmingham game on the sixth of November has sparked broad condemnation.

The government officials has later announced it is attempting to reverse the restriction and investigating what further support might be necessary to guarantee the match can be conducted securely.

Villa notified their matchday stewards that they were not required to attend at the match, explaining they understood that some "could be worried".

On earlier in the week, law enforcement stated it backed the restriction and categorized the match as "high risk" due to information and previous incidents.

That encompassed "violent clashes and hate-crime offences" between the Dutch team and their supporters ahead of a fixture in Amsterdam in November 2024, when over sixty individuals were detained.

There have been rallies at several athletic competitions over the war in Gaza, such as when Israel faced Norway and the European team in recent football World Cup qualifiers.
