Chiefs Confirm Domestic Violence Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The NFL franchise released a comment Wednesday night stating they have knowledge of claims of abuse made public in online accounts by a ex-partner of player Rashee Rice and had been in communication with the NFL.

The team did not mention the player specifically in their statement and said they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Instagram

Dacoda Nichole Jones, who also did not mention Rice by name, posted a series of photos on Instagram that seemed to depict indicators of bodily harm. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and reports indicate she has kids with Rice, whom the team selected in the 2023 draft.

Police Reports Currently Unavailable

No police reports were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have taken place.

Player's Recent Off-Field Troubles

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Dallas highway that left multiple people injured. He was sentenced a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.

On the field, Rice finished the season with 53 catches for 571 receiving yards and five TDs as the Chiefs went 6-11 and missed the playoffs for the first occasion in a decade.
